Hey Realmers! I just finished this guy and couldn't wait to post him up! I don't have time for a full description but I promise to come back and post one later. Thank you for looking and as always, comments are welcomed and appreciated! Update as promised. I wanted a more realistic look but also wanted to keep it close to the classic Slash I loved as a kid. I borrowed aspects of many designs from CGI and comic renderings to cartoons and statues. I always saw Tokka as a KO Slash so I considered his look in the design as well. I will apologize now for the long winded description but this was a very long process and I had no idea how to accurately estimate the time that has gone into this. He was originally going to be a Rhino but I sand and resculpted the figure. The base body is a DCUC Validus. I dremeled down the head and armbands. Then I lightly sanded the whole body and modded all the joints for best range of motion. Modifying the neck as well so he could look down at the turtles. The head was an original sculpt with the yellow eye being half a plastic pellet. Based mostly on Slash’s comic versions. The entire body has been covered in a lot of layers of sculpt with the exception being the joints of course. Every part was given a unique texturing based on real reptilian textures. I drilled holes for both of the knee pads and his belt buckle and glued in clips of a coat hanger so the would be sturdy and not break off. the bandana has wires glued in for some poseability. The belt has wire insulation glued in to keep it in place. I dremeled holes in the fingers, being a good size, I clipped and bent little pieces of a metal coat hanger and glued them inside. That added somewhere around 3/4 of an inch. then I sculpted new fingers around that. For the shell I wanted it to remain lightweight and had googled a bunch of snapping turtle shells to borrow for the design. I sculpted over a ball of aluminum foil then removed it for the back portion of the shell. The front was built slowly inwards to keep it hollow and leaving the middle open where I had drilled holes and glued in 2 small ABS rods and 1 small PVC rod that attached to the figures back ( similar to a peg for a back pack) then sculpted the shells skin around that. The shell itself is still hollow. For the Pantera Claws I went with a Tanto edge to keep the tip shape similar to a sword. They were cut from scrap steel, hammered into shape, ground down, I filed the spine flat and removed the burrs, weathered, sanded, given a patina to help prevent rust, then buffed and polished, and wiped down with Remington oil, just because it was lying around. I may do a little refining around the heels and edge or leave them as is. I glued a neodymium magnet for each blade on the hand and sculpted around it. Then the tang was wrapped with teflon tape and covered in sculpt. Allowing for removaeable claws that won’t fall out. THEY ARE SHARP! The chains are real metal as well cut off a chain from a sign. I don't sculpt a lot of weapons but … Slash has a mace I put together to accompany him that can be seen in the WIP. The paint was done in several layers. I primered the entire figure with a Tamiya light gray primer. I base coated the skin in a custom mixed light green and then a MM Olive drab. He received a darkened Olive Wash and then a lightened Olive wet palette paint. The high points were a yellow and custom green mix. The shell portion of his chest was base coated with MM burnt sienna and given a dark leather wash followed by a yellow glaze and wet pallete yellow blending with various shades. All the leather and gauze/bandaged portions were base coated leather. The leather parts were washed dark brown and then it was all highlighted. Using shades of light flesh and burnt sienna. The hand portion of the Pantera claws and the shackles were painted with a cartoony style of NMM painting. Using glazes of blue grey tones and shades as well as black and white. Everything was sealed with Future Shine and then Krylon Matte was used to dull the shine. The shine was then reapplied on the shell and, teeth, and eyes. ![]() |
