Bag Head Spider-man almost made it into a Marvel Legends assortment... twice. There is a prototype made during the Toybiz era that can be seen online, and Hasbro also made their own prototype when they were displaying possible options to include in some exclusive Marvel Legends sets a few years ago. It's no wonder that both prototypes were made; Bag Head Spidey is just a fun look! Pete only had to wear the makeshift costume on one occasion. But, who doesn't want a figure of him in that costume all of the time? Creating the actual bag head was quite a challenge. I put portions of a comic book backing board into the appropriate sizes, and then glued them to an existing Marvel Legends head so that the eyes can be seen underneath the bag (in this case, it is a Reed Richards under there). Then, I used a hot glue gun to fortify the inside of the bag. Once that was secure, I sculpted over everything using epoxy sculpting material so that it would actually look like a paper bag. The earliest version of the figure was on a Reed Richards body, but I switched it to a different figure because the Reed neck wasn't long enough to support the bag. With some bare Wolverine feet and some additional sculpting and painting, Bag Head Spider-man is ready whenever his other costumes aren't! ![]() |
