Sectaurs is one of my favorite 80s era toylines but never made it past the first wave of toys. There were some prototypes from the second wave that made it into product catalogs and a few of these figures actually made it out into collector hands. The most coveted is Stelara. She was to be the line’s first female figure and like the rest of the Sectaurs had a design that was ahead of it’s time. Rumor has it, only 5 Stelara protos exist on the planet.

I’ll never stop searching for a Stelara proto but wanted her represented on my shelf while I hunt. She makes a brief cameo in the animated mini series but had a key role in the comic series so the team feels a little incomplete without her.

Stelara’s look in animation vs. comic page was pretty significant. The toy’s were going to go with her on screen look (the prototype nails this). For my custom, I thought I’d marry elements from both designs. In the end she has the comic costume and hairstyle but her coloration is closer to the animated look. It’s the best of both worlds in my book and makes for a Stelara that is totally unique (only one Stelara like this on the planet and she lives on my shelf).

The build leverages Adora as the base with a sculpt-altered head. The thorax armor was all sculpted.Foreams and lower legs from a Sectaurs Zak and the harness and weapons are from several extra Sectaurs accessories I had that were cut and cobbled into pieces that fit her.

Once completed I realized she needed an insectoid companion like the other figures were sold with so again, I went back to the proto types for inspiration and replicated the "Rhine-Ox" bug that she was going to be packaged with. Base is a Sectaurs Bitaur who got sculpted over and repainted. Retains the action feature so the head rears up for ramming action.
