Okay, here comes yet another figure in my Silver and Bronze Age Superboy collection, Cyber!

Cyber was a diminutive pink-skinned alien criminal with an over-sized cranium from an unknown planet who attempted to take over Earth using a series of super-powerful robots called Ciphers in Superboy Vol. 1 # 150 (Sept, 1968).

To do this figure, I took a DC Direct Silver Age boxset Superboy and, using the boil and pop method, removed the head, arms, legs, hands, and cape. Next, I used my razor knife to trim off the remnants of the cape, and then I took my Dremel and sanded off the belt. Next, I applied some Tamiya Putty White to the chest to fill in the grooves of the chest symbol, and then sand it smooth once the putty had fully dried. With the chest now ready, and the cape fully trimmed off, I mixed up a batch of Milliput to create the collar and chest stripe. When the Milliput had dried, I sanded it smooth. Next, with the belt sanded off, I took the belt from a DC Universe Classics Legion of Super-Heroes boxset Ultra Boy, and after using my Dremel to widen the interior hole that had once held it onto the Ultra Boy figure, I used my razor knife to cut the back open. Once opened, I test fitted it onto the figure to get a measurement of the width of the waist, I then trimmed off the excess and glued it into place onto the figure. Once the glue had dried, I applied a little bit of Tamiya Putty White over the seam in the back of the belt and then sanded it smooth once the putty had dried.

Next, I took the head from a Toy Quest Megamind figure and used my Dremel to sand off his soul patch. With the soul patch removed and his chin smooth, I again used my Dremel, this time to remove the ball portion of the Superboy's neck peg, leaving a cylindrical post. I then jammed a glob of Milliput into the head cavity inside the Megamind head and then pushed the cylindrical neck post in it to create a new peg hole. Once the Milliput had dried, I glued the head in place atop the neck.

Next, I used a bit of brush and roller cleaner to strip all of the paint off of the legs and arms. With the paint removed from the arms, I mixed up a batch of Green stuff and applied it around the shoulders just above the seam to create the sleeves. Once the Green Stuff had dried, I sanded the sleeves smooth and then reassembled the arms, adding the hands from a DC Direct Legion of Super-Heroes Chameleon Boy. Next, I gave the sleeves a coat of Testors Model Masters Gloss Green, and the skin a coating of a home brewed flesh tone paint.

While the paint on the arms dried, I started work on the legs. For the legs, I decided to try something a bit different. I wanted to give Cyber a different set of feet than the standard Superboy legs. To do this, I used my razor knife to cut the feet off, and then I used my Dremel to turn the Superboy ankle into a cylindrical post. With the cylindrical post now made, I cut the boots off of a DC Universe Classics Young Justice Kid Flash figure. With the Kid Flash boots now detached, I drilled a small hole into the top of the boot to accommodate the cylindrical posts I created out of the Superboy ankles, and then I glued the Kid Flash boots in place. Once the glue had dried, I applied a little bit of Tamiya Putty White over the seams on the ankles, and then sanded them smooth when the putty had dried. With the legs, now ready, I gave them a coat of Testors Model Masters Gloss Green for the trunks, a coating of the home brewed flesh tone paint for the bare skin of the legs, and Testors Model Masters Flat White for the boots.

While the paint on the legs dried, I started work on the torso with attached head. There was not that much that needed to be done on the torso and head except for applying the paint. For this, I applied a coat of Testors Model Masters Gloss Green for to the shirt and trunks, the home brewed flesh tone paint to the head and neck, Testors Model Masters Flat White to the collar, chest stripe, and belt, and Testors Model Masters Flat Black to the eyebrows and belt stripes.

With all portions of the body now fully painted and ready, I next commenced two full coats of Flat Clear over each piece of the body. Lastly, once the Flat Clear had fully dried, I used the boil and pop method to reattach the arms and the legs to the body, and TA-DA...Cyber, enemy of Superboy!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Thanks, claytonemery. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, it is wicked obscure, but even the most obscure character needs a little love and a figure made from it. It was a pain in the butt to do, but I think the results speak for themselves.
