So, seeing how Kenner never did a figure in the Super Powers Collection line of the 1980's of the Earth-2 Superman, I decided that I would make one, having gotten the idea to do this from the now defunct website, "FatSal's Super Powers Customs".
The figure was a fairly simple piece to do. I took a Kenner Super Powers Collection Superman that was not in the best of condition, and removed the existing arms. Next, I repainted the boots in Testors Model Masters Guards Red and the temples portion of his hair in Testors Model Masters Flat White. When the paint had fully dried, I gave the body and head two full coats of flat clear. While the flat clear dried, I set about working on the arms. The arms I took from a broken Kenner Super Powers Collection Martian Manhunter...I used the Martian Manhunter arms as they gave the figure a more Earth-2/Wayne Boring/Jerry Ordway feel. To complete the arms, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput that I wrapped around the wrists to form the cuffs. When the Milliput had dried, I used my Dremel to smooth it out, and then used a homemade batch of blue paint that matched the shade of blue that made up the figure's costume, and Testors Acryl Peach for the hands. Once the paint on the arms had dried, I applied two generous coats of flat clear. When the flat clear on the arms had dried, I attached them to the body. Next, I applied a new chest symbol with a little glue that was designed to look like the 1980's Era Earth-2 symbol (this, like others I have done before, was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size). Lastly, I put a vintage Kenner Super Powers Collection Superman cape on him, and TA-DA...Earth-2 Superman, Kenner Super Powers Collection style!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
