I found this ‘Quake’ figure a few years back on clearance and I picked it up thinking that it would come in handy one day. Finding a use for her was kind of hard-her armor sculpt was great looking, but her original face paint was terrible, and it was hard to think of what she could be converted into while keeping that cool, armored style. Finally, it hit me that she would make a cool Gamora figure because of her very futuristic, but still appealing look.

I have a certain view of Gamora that I tried to reflect her because of how I view the character. I feel like there are a lot of female superheroes that, regardless of their personalities or even creator companies, are drawn or styled leaning on over sexuality way too much. I get it, female heroes look more appealing when they are sexy looking and just about all of them, or at least the real mainstream ones, have large busts and skimpy costumes. While I don’t really care either way as long as the story is good, I tried to avoid that with this figure and focus more on a real look. Gamora is an assassin and a warrior and I feel like that should be the first and foremost thing. Sure she can cool curvy and sexy, but in what world is she really going to be wearing some skimpy costume into battle? She’s a practical character and I wanted that to be shown here.

This figure is basically all repaint with a mash up of parts from the fodder bin. Like I said, I liked the original sculpt and didn’t want to mess with it. Figure was cleaned and then 85% repainted. All of her skin was painted green and then details were added where need be (eyes, etc). After that dried, the skin got a wash of darker green to make it look a little more life-like.

I repainted her armor to keep it more in line with her ‘Marvel Now!’ look. Although that armor is much sleeker, I liked the color scheme and wanted to see how it looked here. Once that was done, small details were done and the armor was given a black wash to show off the details.

Finally, she got a rifle from the fodder bin as well as a Batman Begins blade weapon that can clip/unclip from her forearm.
