I've been pushing this custom off for awhile. Always wanted to make the Superman in the black costume from the STAS episode " Brave New Metropolis " If you haven't seen the episode check it out. It's a look into an alternate Superman future if certain events took place. Anyway, I had an idea how I wanted to make the figure, but it was going to be complicated. Originally I was going to use a JLU Superman & used the legs of a mattel TNBA Batman like I did on many of my other STAS customs. But I still wanted to use the Boots from a JLU Lex Luthor. I just couldn't use the legs because they were too small. So I was going to cut the bottom of the Batman legs off & splice the boots onto them hoping they would fit alright. Hence why I kept pushing this project back. But it hit me when I got a JLU lot that had a few Green Arrow figures in it. Yeah mattel dropped the ball on that figure in the JLU line because he's way too tall for the rest of the figures. My STAS line I've been making for years is meant to fit in with the Kenner BTAS/TNBA figures.Thos taller Green Arrow legs are perfect. So I boiled & popped the Superman legs out of the JLU buck & Transplanted the Green Arrow legs. Removed the cape from Supes & Sculpted over the shoulders & normal " S " logo. The BNM Superman had the same shape shield so I left that in tact. But it was a different style S that had to be painted in. I also sculpted the collar & some gloves. Painted the entire figure. I usually use Testor's Dull cote on everything I make, which I did in this case too. But then I wnet over the gloves & boots with a gloss clear. Let me know what you all think? Please wait... |
