So goes the theme song to Rumble, the action-adventure series that ran on CBS from 1984 to 1988. In the vein of shows like The Fall Guy and The A-Team, Rumble is widely regarded as a nostalgic favourite, its cheesiness a contributing factor in that. Rumble focuses on the exploits of Powell Armstrong, a former military demolitions expert who left the service and became a stunt performer and special effects coordinator in the entertainment industry. Coming from a tough childhood, Powell's arch-nemesis is his cousin Gray, a prominent underworld figure with ties to corrupt executives in Los Angeles. By day, Powell sets up pyrotechnics and supervises stunts on the sets of TV shows and movies but by night, he dons the orange goggles and green jacket to become the vigilante Rumble, fighting crime on the streets of L.A. A film reboot of Rumble is currently in development, with Terry Crews attached to star in the title role.

While trying to come up with something for the Newbies contest, I realised just how difficult producing an original idea really is; it feels like everything's just been done before. I was inspired by watching behind the scenes footage of the film John Wick, which is directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, veteran stunt performers and coordinators. I realised that stuntpeople really are some of the most unsung heroes in showbiz and it put the idea for a stuntman vigilante-type character in my head. The Fall Guy and The A-Team, as mentioned earlier, as well as characters like Luke Cage, were my reference points.

I started out with a Mr. Terrific, taking the head and vest from a ML Ultimate Captain America. I resculpted the back of the vest so I could have a surface to write the slogan "READY 2 RUMBLE" on. Sculpted on a collar for his shirt and sculpted on the belt. Switched the lower legs out for those from a Mattel Watchmen Comedian. Sculpted the goggles onto Cap's head. Appreciate your votes!
