So, seeing how Mattel really dropped the ball when it came to 6-inch scale Young Justice figures, especially when it came to Superboy, I decided to make a series of figures based upon his three different looks in the series, the third of these being based upon his look from Season 2.
So, to do this figure, I took the upper body from a Diamond Select Toys Buffy Beneath You Spike and attached it to the lower body of a Diamond Select Toys Fool For Love Spike. Next, I removed the hands from the figure. With the hands removed, I sanded the wrists flatter with my Dremel. Next, I took the hands from a Mattel Movie Masters Ra's al Ghul and sanded the cone-shaped joint into a cylindrical post. Once the post was formed, I glued the Ra's al Ghul hands into place in the wrist joint. Once the glue had dried, I repainted the pants with Testors Acryl Bright Blue, the boots, belt, and shirt with Testors Model Masters Flat Black, and the arms, neck, and exposed portions of the hands on the gloves with a home brewed batch of flesh tone paint that matched that of the Mattel Young Justice Solar Suit Superboy. When the paint dried, I gave the figure two generous coats of flat clear. Once the flat clear had finally dried, I placed the head from a Mattel Young Justice Solar Suit Superboy on the neck. Finally, I slapped on a new chest symbol with a little glue (the symbol was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...however, unlike previous hand drawn symbols I had done before, this was drawn to more closely approximate the symbol Superboy had in Young Justice), and TA-DA...Young Justice Superboy as he appeared in Season 2!!!
