Another day, another custom figure! After yesterday's two-for-one post, I'm back to one per day, and today's one is the first member of the Guardians' B team. The hero of the 31st century, a blatant copy of Captain America, lost in time, trapped in ice, found in the past by the modern Guardians, presenting Major Vance Astro, otherwise known as Major Victory!

For those that aren't familiar with the history, The Guardians of the Galaxy were a superhero team first published in 1969 as a little side story in a Marvel reprint book. That team was a group of heroes and aliens from the 31st century, fighting to liberate Earth from the evil Badoon race. They appeared sporadically through the 70s and 80s before receiving their own ongoing title in the 90s. They were cancelled in 95, but when the new Guardians comic was released in 08, they tied it into the original series by writing the story so that the Star-Lord team was the original Guardians team that served as the inspiration for the "old" 31st century team. In turn, one member of that team - Major Victory - was flung back in time, encased in a comet, and ended up joining the "new" team, which in turn inspired THEN to take the name of Guardians of the Galaxy from HIS team. Confused yet?

Oh, and he just so happened to be carrying Captain America's shield from the future, thus ALSO invoking the story of the formation of the original Avengers. 'Cuz if you're gonna steal, steal from the classics, right?

Major Victory here is a DCUC Ultraman body with a ML Movie Juggernaut head and Captain America's shield.

No, really, that's it. Aside from white and blue paint, there's nothing more to this figure. I matched the blue of the original Ultraman figure so there wouldn't be any joint paint wear issues, and that was the end of it. A very simple custom, but an accurate and effective one.
