Fairy Godmothers are a powerful and benevolent race of fairy whose magic can only be used for good. They can appear to mortals who are pure of heart in times of need, before all hope is lost or they can be summoned by wishing on a star. Royal families seek their favour in the hope that they may bless their babies with magical gifts. At times Fairy Godmothers may bestow their favour upon any family who have shown them a good service. It is in small acts of kindness that Fairy Godmothers find their happiness. In the realm there are currently four Fairy Godmothers. They are Flora Knotgrass, Fauna Thistlewit, Merryweather Flittle and Sylvia Peasblossom.

Sylvia Peasblossom is possibly the most powerful of all the Fairy Godmothers. A jovial and wise fairy, she is many hundreds of years old and has become a little absent minded and forgetful over the years and now takes a less active role in the fairy duties of her race. However her magic is not to be doubted, for she is the holder of the most powerful wand that her kind possesses, The Great Wand. Sylvia instead acts as council and Keeper of the Wand to the other Fairy Godmothers.

Her home is beneath a mossy bank in a beautiful wooded glade in a quiet and secluded corner of the realm. It is a small and humble dwelling with floral lanterns growing around its arched door and windows of crystal glass shimmer in the light. She is always ready to offer sage advice to the other Fairy Godmothers or any fairy when they seek her guidance and often recounts the good deeds she performed in days gone by. Sylvia is often found alongside her mice companions tending to her gardens, her hobby is growing and nurturing various squashes.

This was how Tinker Bell found her on a dusky afternoon. The Fairy Godmother was in the pumpkin patch when the Never Land fairy arrived, speeding through the foliage like a tiny comet and collided with a small pumpkin. Orange pulp and seeds sprayed everywhere and Tinker Bell crumpled exhausted in the now hollowed shell. “Well, what have we here? Good heavens child, what is wrong, why such distress?” Sylvia scooped the little fairy up and seated her on the grass, where she grew in size and hastily began explaining her story. Back in Never Land, the pirates had found a way of finding Never Land, which is never in the same place twice, and had attacked and stolen the fairies of Never Land’s wings and turned them into a sail that enabled their ship to fly. Peter Pan remained trapped on the floating island unable to fly having lost his happy thoughts.

Sylvia listened intently, shocked at what the fairy had to say, and at the end of the account she sat for a moment in deep thought, stroking a mouse that had crawled onto her lap, before placing it on her shoulder and rising to her feet. “Well this will never do. Stolen fairy wings and the eternal boy unable to fly? Poor boy, such a sweet and naughty boy, and a pirate with a hook for a hand you say? Someone else must have aided them, for Never Land is unfindable accept by the fairies or mermaids, someone powerful, dark. Something must be done and soon for a fairy without her wings is a sorry thing indeed, I remember a fairy with no wings once and the fairy turned green and went bad, that was some time ago now. Her name was Mal...”
“Yes, yes, yes but will you help?” Tinker Bell interrupted, growing impatient and wondering if this rambling old fairy really could help her, “there really isn’t much time.”
“Of course, of course, we must make haste. Now what in the world did I do with that magic wand? I was sure I...” Sylvia rummaged in the folds of her voluminous sleeves, “Ah yes, I remember” and she reached into the thin air and plucked a silvery glowing wand out of the ether. Tinker Bell gasped in awe, the Great Wand. It shimmered in the Fairy Godmother’s hand and she appeared suddenly less frail and more like the powerful fairy of legend.

Sylvia pointed her wand at her one of her larger pumpkins “salagadoola mechicka boola, now what comes next? Oh yes, the thingamabob that does the job is Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!!” A shower of silvery golden sparks surrounded the pumpkin and it began to grow and change, the trailing vines twisting into wheels. “What is that for?” asked a puzzled Tink pointing at the carriage appearing before her eyes “aren’t we going to fly?” Sylvia laughed, and said “Fly? At my age flying such a long distance and so fast is exhausting, I am not a young slender wisp anymore, no we will take the coach. It is just as fast and very comfortable.”
“But we can’t get a coach to Never Land, we need to fly” said Tinker Bell becoming exasperated and buzzing her wings in impatience. “We aren’t going to Never Land, well we will, but first we need to gather help, it will take more than my magic alone to save Never Land and get the fairies wings back. We are going to visit an old friend who may be able to help us, for I fear a greater force is at work here.” Sylvia then pointed her wand at four of her mice and this time whispered the words “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” and the mice transformed into four mighty pure white steeds in a shower of sparks and took their place before the carriage. “Well hop in my dear. We can’t waste time” ushered Sylvia holding the door open. Tink fluttered into the carriage and took her seat, Sylvia was right, it was very comfortable inside. The Fairy Godmother swiftly sat beside her and as she did the carriage took off at break neck speed across the sprawling countryside.
