GIGANTIC undertaking for me...I've been wanting to make the Mamoa Aquaman since the "UNITE THE SEVEN" image was first released. I think the design is brilliant, but man, oh man was I intimidated by the prospect of trying to recreate the tattoos and all the intricate armor detailing. I'd considered using the Game of Thrones Mamoa figure because of the face, but I found the height to be less to my liking and I didn't want to have to resculpt the non-existent abs under that figure's belt. Then, while scrolling through potential base figures, I saw it, those eyebrows...the eyebrows and the primarily flesh toned body...of SAMURAI. He ended up being the perfect base figure for Mamoa.

All the armor, straps, pants, belt, turtle shell thigh guard...beard and most of the hair...all sculpted with my trusty sewing needle. I can't begin to express how tedious it was. For the shoulder armor, I went my usual route and placed tape around the shoulder and sculpted the piece separate. Once it had fully cured, I removed it and took the tape off, inserted two pleather straps via superglue and then glued to ends of the straps to the back and shoulder portion of the torso. This allows him to raise his right arm without hindrance. For the pants, I have an apoxie sculpt " texture stamp" that I made years ago using the scales of an Ultimate Lizard figure. I use it to roll in the desired texture, in this case, scales (or at least a scaley look).

The tattoos required a steady hand and attention to detail...and most of all patience.

For the back of the hair, I used the rubber hair from a LOTR Strider figure and blended it in to the hair I'd already sculpted. This allows him to turn him head with breaking off the sculpted hair which is only in the front.

Before you ask, yes he WILL come with his staff. I'm sculpted the final parts of it now and will include it in the eBay auction. I was just too excited to show you all the finished figure. Hope you like it!
