Space Invader (Self Customs) Custom Miniature / Figurine
Space Invader consists of two very diverse figures. The strange little alien came from a boxed set of polyethylene "Space Monsters" by the Italian model company, Atlantic. A friend sent me this set from France in 1983, and I’m pretty sure that it was old stock even back then. The captive is a figure conversion that started as “Angel” from Aurora’s “Peppermint Fuzz” Scene Machine car kit, which dates back to 1969. The 1.56” tall alien is pretty much out-of-the-box, with just the base cut off and parting line removed. Even the color scheme is close to the one that Atlantic showed on the package. The 2” captive is another story. She needed a face transplant as the original version had large sunglasses. I also had to slit the bottom of her dress to simulate a tear and add wrist manacles and boot cuffs. Although a bit battered, this captive is not totally helpless. Note that bare ended cable in the rubble and the position of the woman’s left foot. She’s going to try to kick that live wire onto her alien tormentor! Completed in 2011. Please wait... |
