I've had this Tonka Rescue Helicopter since I was a kid and for the past decade or so, it's sat in storage. I wanted to use it for something since it was a cool base and after some thought, I decided to keep going with my Wasteland style vehicles. Helicopters are never really touched on in Zombie Apocalypse material and the like, which kind of makes sense. Not everyone knows how to fly, and then there's finding a working 'copter and maintaining it...all things that wouldn't realistically happen in an unrealistic world. As such, I figure that in any group of PA people, like in Mad Max, being able to fly one would make you pretty darn 'holy' in the group. Pilots would pass down their skills to the next generation and so on, as the years pass and the vehicle gets more and more used and world-weary. In this case, I liked the idea of it having started out as rescue chopper. Chances are you'd find one of these )and a person to fly it) before a military grade chopper. So what you end up with here is a rescue chopper that has seen the years, put on the miles and been modified. Starting off was pretty easy, the white plastic had turned yellow over the years which gave it that worn look. Modified it a bit by putting a gun rack on the back, adding some small misc. details here and there as well. Big modifications came with installed a kind of hanging seat on the right side with a machine gun. They want to keep this bird safe and the wasteland isn't known for a long life expectancy-the gunner is literally hanging on for his life as the ship flies. I also wrapped metal wire around the landing gear-in my head, this would be barbed wire to discourage any attackers from holding on during take-off. Finally, I went to work with the spray paint, making it look worn before sealing everything. Helicopter features: -3.75 inch scale (can fit MOST 3.75 figures) -3.75 inch Pilot figure (custom paint and sealed) -Custom paint job -Everything sealed to help protect the paint -Opening cockpit -Lowering/wind up winch -Evac-body board -Moving helicopter blade and rotor -Gun rack (no guns provided) -Moving side machine gun and seat for additional figure ![]() |

Barb wire looks tough. Great work.
