Are you a little wary from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Is Zack Snyder's take on the Man of Steel too dark and grim for you? Then come back with us to a time when you believed a man could fly... Here is Christopher Reeve as Superman! The figure started life as Mattel DC Comics Universe Guardian Action figure, chosen for his blue color, build, and lack of body details. The head was added from a DC Collectibles New Krypton Superman action figure based on the art of Gary Frank, who modeled his version of Superman off of Reeve. These heads are NOT universal, so the head swap was done (for the first time actually!) with our proprietary head-swap method. We'll release a tutorial on this soon! The cape came from a DC Superman figure from the Jack Kirby's Fourth World line of figures, because the 'S' looked largely the same. The figure was given a head-to-toe repaint to bring it in-line with the movie color scheme, after sculpting the belt with apoxy. Finally, the symbol was printed out on a sticker, placed onto a piece of plastic cut to size, then melted onto the figure so it would conform to his musculature instead of sticking off randomly. The figure was sealed with a matte double-coat of Krylon, but gloss was added to the boots and the symbol. ![]() |
