This was a project I completed many years ago (~2009, finishing the paint in 2012) as a gift for my father. Growing up, he was a big fan of Richard Comely's "Captain Canuck" in its original incarnation.
Created using Aves Apoxie Sculpt, wire, a Canadian flag pin (belt) and a DC universe body (modified) + a resculpted DCUC 'The Atom' head. All joints were dremeled down, and sealed after painting. Mr. Hobby lacquer paints with thinner (white/red and a custom fleshtone) were used, resulting in a durable, bright finish.
As far as I know, this was the first Captain Canuck custom made, as at the time I was sculpting it, there were zero figurative references showing up on google, including the MEGO-style one that was produced later on. It's nice to see that's changed since then, as Captain Canuck is a great character, and pivotal in the Canadian independent comic market of the 1970s. I hope to get a photo of this Captain Canuck figure with Mr. Comely the next time I see him at FanExpo, as I think it would make a nice display companion to the figure on my father's comic shelf.
