I humbly present the black knight and masked villain Foresythe, the primary antagonist from the novel Laria, the initial book of the four-part Laria Saga series written by Daniel Hellmund. Foresythe is the first character bloodily introduced at the very start of the story. After killing a tavern owner and kidnapping his victim's daughter, we learn that he has discovered a way to end the global conflict that has been raging between the four races of Laria. This conflict, known as the Eternal War, has beaten the Human race into near submission. Foresythe, undertaking the responsibility to end the war and claim supreme victory for the Human race, is convinced that he has communicated with the gods. It is by the gods that he has obtained the means to annihilate any who stand against him. Foresythe, a well-known sadist who is cruel and unrelenting, boasts of his discovery and takes the young woman as a sort of trophy as repayment for the Human race's impending victory. It is the act of murder and snatching that sets the novel's protagonist, Joshua Owen, into pursuit of the masked madman. Can the merciless Foresythe be stopped? In the novel, Foresythe is granted the ability to speak all four of the realm's languages. He can appear and disappear into shadows while also being able to retrieve his sword from darkness. Foresythe can also manipulate the elements, from summoning fire and lightning from his gloved fingertips to hovering in the air as if he were weightless. He can alter memories and taunt his victims while they sleep by corrupting the mind. As the novel progresses, Foresythe displays further abilities that make him an even more diabolical threat. I have long wanted to construct a figure of this character. I began by building the head which sports the character's iconic mask. The head is from a Marvel Legends Iron Fist and the hair is from the masked Marvel Legends Winter Soldier figure. The body is of the Winter Soldier figure. The body was painted black at the boots and chest, and I 'dirtied' the arms with black paint. I swapped the left hand for an Iron Fist hand to highlight the character's arrogance. The arm-guards and chest plate are from a "create a superstar" WWE figure. The cape is made from scratch by starting with a piece of black fabric. I then used black vinyl electrical tape and sealed it with glue before adding additional paint. I then sealed the entire cape again. To get the cape to remain in a certain shape during construction, I added craft wires. The sword is created out of scratch using a piece of q-tip, vinyl electrical tape, a broken hair clip, and plastic packaging. Foresythe was a fun figure to make, and as always is in no way meant to look professional. The pictures do not really do it justice; there are minor differences in the shades of black that are not really captured. It is mainly for me to display and I've learned more as I've worked on it. More figures from Laria are on the way! I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for viewing! ![]() |
