I wish I could say that I had any real skill to kitbash a figure from scratch, but I do have a lot of patience, lots & lots of glue and a good eye for blending & assembling different pieces from disparate sources to make a pretty good costumed figure. The majority of the fun, while waiting for parts to wing their way via ebay, was the research: discovering the rich pictorial history of this character. I settled on a custom Henry Cavill headsculpt as being appropriate for John Carter, because:- 1) it had more than a passing resemblance to illustrated depictions of Carter by Frazetta, Whelan and Jusko. 2) Cavill being the present cinematic incarnation of Superman- a character for whom John Carter has been, arguably, a progenitive inspiration for his creation in comics during the 1930s.
