I've always wanted a Shinji Ikari figure from Neon Genisis Evangelion, one of my all time favourite Animes, and wondered why Figma never released one. There were a few images online of others who created a custome Shinji and I wanted to join their ranks. I took inspiration from them but they didn't leave a recipe so I had to make one up myself.

The base figure was a 3 inch Shinji Ikari portrait which was a non-action figure. I cut up its arms, hands, torso, legs, ankles and feet then drilled holes into them. With spare revoltech and figma joints, I slipped them in so they could become moveable. Unfortunately the stomach area was unusable so I found a spare Figma part and moulded it to fit. I also had to mould the upper legs to take the ball joint. The most important thing for me was that Shinji looked the same size as my Figma Rei Ayanami.
