Helm's Deep (the deepening wall) (Lord of the Rings) Custom Diorama / Playset
"So it begins." Yes here it is at last, the big backdrop that left none of you puzzled probably, Helm's Deep the deepening wall. This was made from construction foam, milliput, acrylic paint, fake grass from warhammer/train sets and gravel, skewers, ping-pong balls, plastic sheets, polystyrene and lots of glue. Most of the figures in the shots are customs or newly updated customs such as Gimli who now has super articulated legs as previouslt his arms were the only thing I changed, also he has all his axes available to carry (though you will not see his walking axe as he does not use it in this battle). The ladders are all made from kebab skewers. Now this photoshoot took me almost 6 hours when I thought it would take 1, I focused on all the major scenes involving the wall and other scene's that also can be done using the wall, the explosion pic of course is just from the film but how else was I going to do it. I did make some lightable torches for a shot using kebab skewers wit string wrapped aroudn the top like a miniture torch then lit them with matches. This as you can imagine took an exceedingly long time to complete and I am please with it and will eventually make a gate with a causeway, but for now this was a good project to do. As you can see I made the Isenguard explosive mines out of ping pong balls. This project was started before my Erebor Throne, posted in my King Thoring custom, so there isn't as much skill as there was in that structure. Simply put I had a basic Idea of something I would have wanted as a kid and can use for display as an adult or stop motion or something and decided I should make the wall with a removable segment. This is the result. Hope you all like! P.S my fav pic is the final count of Legolas and Gimli's kills where Gimli's axe is imbeded in the Uruk's nervou system causing him to twitch. P.P.S I plan on doing the gate/ front part though this may take some time, maybe even years depending on how busy I am being a poor student xD Please wait... |

Those six hours absolutely payed off ! Outstanding pictures and scenes ! Great, great work ! The ping pong-mines look great ! How large is your LOTR-ToyBiz-collection ? Did you built the ladders too ?
