Mecha Sonic, also known as Silver Sonic thanks to the Archie Comic book series, is the guardian of the Death Egg and penultimate boss of Sonic 2, also one of the hardest since you have to face it without rings. The first robot that Dr. Robotnik made in his enemy's image, Mecha Sonic's bulk makes it very powerful and durable, but only capable of short bursts of speed in a straight line. It can still roll up into a ball, and even shoot missiles in 8 directions at once. In Sonic & Knuckles Mecha Sonic was upgraded with the ability to absorb energy from the Master Emerald to assume a super form.
As for the toy, I used a 4 inch classic Sonic made by Jazwares, whose height would make it look pretty good up against the 3 inch Classic Sonic figures. The armor is made out of apoxie sculpt, though the screws on its head are made from craft foam. The paint job is double layered, silver applied on top of black and gray. On his outer armor bits I applied the gray as a base coat, making the silver applied on top look brighter, while lower parts like the biceps, thighs, and part of the body were painted black, making the silver look darker and streakier, as if it was metal stained by lubricating oil and scuffed by the clashing of moving parts on top of it.
