After all the nice and encouraging comments under my Shadow and Phantom customs I got really motivated to do my third one and worked on it every day after work and on my days off so I managed to finish it withing a week.
Matt Wagner and Guy Davis' Sandman from the Vertigo series Sandman Mystery Theatre always held a special place in my heart, a great re imagining of the golden age, pulpy original but it's sadly not the most well represented of the DC heroes merchandise wise and even the trade collections of the comicbook series got cancelled twice already, mid run (which is really annoying). So I thought I'd show some love and make my own Wesley Dodds.
At first I thought the gas mask will be the biggest challenge and everything after that will be a breeze but the trench coat turned out to be just as much of a head ache (had to start over after I was half done with the first attempt and I had to make some modifications on the 2nd one too to fit properly and look decent) but lessons learned, my next coat hopefully will go smoother.
The hat is made out of felt, I meant to keep the figure's original hat but the rim was too small so I ended up making one and let me tell you, in this size it's a bit of a nightmare but I think it turned out alright (and again, lessons learned, my next hat will be better hopefully, but this was my 2nd attempt and since it does the job I really didn't want to do it again the 3rd time).
The gas mask is made out of fabric from an old trouser, some tube shaped leftover gunpla and Transformers parts, bits of faux leather and see through plastic for the lenses (teeny tiny lenses on teeny tiny tubes. It was fun constantly gluing my fingers on instead of the plastic).
The vest and trench coat are sewn from fabric I've harvested from some old shorts (why order fabric when you have some clothes lying around unworn) but the shirt and tie are the original figure's (shirt sleeves are some white fabric glued on).
The gas gun is built on the figure's original pistol using again some leftover gunpla parts and then painted with Citadel acrylic paint.
I think I've learned a lot again (since this is only my 3rd custom) and I'm looking forward to improve my craft on my next figure which will be the Rocketeer (if I don't screw it up). Not sure when that's gonna be done or how much more I'll make but right now I really enjoy doing customs whenever I have the time, figuring out how to make the different parts and learning new techniques.

I must say, I'm really enjoying seeing your work with the cloth outfits. It's not easy getting those to look right, but you pulled it off! Looks amazing. I'm curious though, did you have much difficulty sewing the collar for the trench coat? I've never been able to figure out how to do that on such a small scale without the fabric fraying.

thank you for the kind words! The advantages of the Gotham figures is their slightly larger size, they are usually 7" or a bit taller so you have a couple of extra millimetres to work with. The collar goes well under the lining so I was able to sew it comfortably (still managed to goof it up a bit tho) and I've used fabric glue to make it stay in place after arranging it. Since I'm not planning to redress my figures I can make these outfits look a bit tighter then your usual cloth dressed figures (not all, Mezco did some really great ones that you can still undress) by using glue to make the fabric sit more naturally on the body. The collar is glued to the coat, the coat and some parts of the collar is glued to the waist coat and the waistcoat is glued to the body at one point to fit better (but still doesn't hinder posability).
