I'm back with another custom from my rapidly shrinking list of pulp heroes to be made. This time it's The Lobster himself! For those of you who are not familiar with him, the character debuted in Mike Mignola's Hellboy series as a fictional pulp vigilante who turns out really existed and fought against mobsters, nazis and all kinds of occult phenomenon in the 30s and 40s. Later he got his own series that's still ongoing to this day. And since I absolutely love Hellboy and pulp heroes I just had to make this figure. As for the details: the base figure is Zsasz again, sanded down and dressed in faux leather and stretchy lycra fabric, all sewn. I've tried to sew the hood too but it just didn't work in this size and I wanted it to have a leathery look so instead of sculpting it I've decided to cut up the leather to pieces and glue it to the head along with the goggles (made out of leftover plastic bits, painted black and red. The claw on the torso is also painted. To my surprise faux leather holds the paint really well). The pouches are leather as well, filled up with random plastic bits and then sewn and glued to the belt which is attached to the jacket. The buckle is a piece of 16 gauge wire. The grenades are made of leftover plastic parts (some MArvel legends accessory I think) and some very thin wire I had lying around, glued together, painted, covered in the same leather as everything else and then glued to the belt (no way of sewing this). Pistol is the original pistol the figure came with, painted black. Not sure when my next custom will be ready but it's gonna be the good old Dr. Clark Savage Jr! Until then, hope you like this one, let me know what you think if you have a minute to spare! ![]() |

I think the character is more popular now than before for some reason, he seems to be the fan favorite among the Mignola verse readers.
