This isn't my first custom, but it's my first time posting one of mine here. Here's an easy, done in one day custom I've been wanting to try for a while now, but just never got around to it. I remember reading the "Identity Crisis" story-line years ago, particularly the "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" issues in which Spider-Man temporarily took on the Dusk identity to help beat a murder rap, as well as three other identities he took up at the time. These costumes were later passed on to four others who became the Slingers. So it only took 20 years for me to get one, but I remember reading the Dusk issues as a kid, like I said, and wanting an action figure of him pretty badly. However, sadly, neither ToyBiz or Hasbro ever delivered on him. With the Slingers recently coming back in the current Scarlet Spider book (good read, check it out!), as well as recently picking up the complete 18 issue tpb of "Tangled Web of Spider-Man" (which featured the costume being worn by someone else in the Negative Zone), I knew it was time to finally get to him. This was a pretty simple, yet effective recipe, I think: Figure (head, body, and hands): Black Costume Spider-Man (Sandman Series) Underarm wings/capes: Morbius (Absorbing Man Series) I Dremeled down the pegs on both capes to fit the Black Costume Spider-Man body. I also sanded and sandpapered away the points on the flared-out Morbius cape, trimming away any excess parts with my X-acto knife. I then sanded and sandpapered his head's eyes away until the head became featureless just like in the comics. Finally, everything that was white got painted a matte black, as did the parts of his head I shaved away. That's it! Now I have another cool Spider-Man variant for my Spider-Man/Spider-Verse shelf. ![]() |
