When Hasbro announced they would be making a Royal Guard in the Black Series I was very excited to see that they would be utilizing the armor underneath their robes that we had seen in the Star Wars: Crimson Empire comics. The original miniseries has always been my favorite Star Wars comic and the main protagonist Kir Kanos has been one of my favorite characters ever since.

I'm not the only one to use this figure as a base for Kanos, but I always knew I needed to have a 6" scale version of him in my collection so I am glad Hasbro gave us the body to do so. This figure has been finished for months but I had been waiting to find the time to build a diorama for photographs before shooting any pictures.

The main body was of course the Black Series Royal Guard, with the hands and lower arms spliced on from a Shoretrooper figure (credit to Jin Saotome for that idea!). His head came from a Marvel Legends Steve Rogers head, which was slightly reshaped and resculpted to give him his hairstyle and trademark scar. His helmet was also from The same Royal Guard base, just reworked slightly so it sits lower (though I admit it still sits too high for my liking). The cape came from a ML Magneto I had in the fodder bin, which was cut down and reworked to give it a better fit. His Vibrostaff hilt was made from a metal rebar accessory that came with an Angel figure, while the blades were scratch build from Styrene.

After some sculpt and paint he was ready! While the figure certainly has some imperfections that bother me, I am very happy with the end result and am glad to have a 6" scale version to sit on my shelf.
