I am actually really proud of this one. Shatterstar was one of my favorite action figures growing up as a kid. I was so excited to see that he appeared in the Deadpool 2 trailer as part of the X-Force team. I previously made a custom based on the quick shot of him hiding in the back of the airplane but it wasn't as accurate because I could barely see what the costume and hair looked like. Well, now that the movie has been out for a while, there are plenty of images online to see the details of the Shatterstar costume played by Lewis Tan as he appears in Deadpool 2. I love that they kept his essential qualities (headgear, bright red hair, pony tail, eye star make-up, double bladed swords, shoulder pad, all white, etc.). I mailed my original concept figure to Lewis Tan and he has since posted it all over his Facebook and Instagram, but I wanted to create a more screen-accurate version.
I took the comicbook Marvel Legends Shatterstar base, added DC Multiverse bald Lex Luthor head, swapped out the boots from Marvel Legends Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, removed the forearm gloves, swapped out the hands, added the shoulder pad from the old Bullseye Marvel Legends but cut it to reshape and added the chest gem and additional large shoulder pad with textured pattern, sculpted the headgear and hair, added the pony tail from Khal Drago from Game of Thrones, painted star eye make-up, painted goatee, painted lower darker eyebrows, painted the hair with black base but dry-brushed red highlights, sculpted the belt and crotch guard, and painted everything appropriately in white and grey. For the swords, I made them from scratch using a plastic card and just cut out the shape and painted it all silver. It took quite a bit of time and attention but I managed to get a pretty screen accurate Shatterstar to add to my cinematic X-Force display. I hope Lewis Tan approves!
I am kind of surprised that nobody else on here has attempted any rendition of movie Shatterstar at the time of this posting. I feel kind of special that I am the only one who has made Lewis Tan Shatterstar so far but am looking forward to seeing others give it a try. It's a fun character to make.
