This is a custom I recently completed which is a vintage Sindy doll made to fit in with the Action Man ‘Space Ranger’ figures from the 1980’s. Her uniform is designed to go with this ‘Space Ranger International’ uniform I made a few months ago which can also be seen in my gallery. To make her I used an ‘Active Ballerina’ Sindy as a base, as she has the most articulated body. I started by shrinking her head to make it more in proportion with the Action Man figures heads. To do this I used the ‘slow shrinking method'. I originally tried using the ‘fast shrinking method’ but the vintage Sindy head did not react well to it so the slow method was the safest option. To design my original ‘Space Ranger International’ tabard I used the idea of a satellite for the logo & made part of the satellite the letter ‘I’ which stands for ‘International’. The original Action Man International uniform was very basic so I did not want to go too mad with the colours, so I stuck to a silver background & used 2 shades of blue for the details. Once I had drawn out the patterns for the tabard & arm band on the computer I printed them onto silver leather fabric. I used the same tabard design for this Sindy uniform but just printed it out smaller so as it would fit her better. Instead of a jumpsuit I gave sandy a one piece dress which was made in the same royal blue colour as the Action Man jumpsuit. Her helmet is the original Action man Space Ranger International helmet. Her gloves were from a CY girl & her boots are original Sindy boots. ![]() |
