After Juggernaut became Kuurth: Breaker of Stone, one of the Heralds of a sleep god for a long time known as the Serpent, Coloss made a deal with Cyttorak, the two-dimensional being that originally gave Juggernaut power, get the power to stand up against Kuurth. Colossus became the new avatar of Juggernaut and was able to push back Cain Marko until he was called by The Serpent. This decision caused Kitty to break up with Colossus, since she can not deal with her increasingly manifest disposition to sacrifice herself when she wants someone who is willing to live for her. Because of this, Colossus decides to remain in Utopia with the Cyclops X-Men team instead of returning to Westchester due to his fear that his new Juggernaut powers will be unsafe for children. [58] After another stressful battle, Colossus realized that his powers were much more dangerous than he believed, and requested to be locked up with his sister, only to be released when necessary in the missions.
