Michael "Mad" Monk was dishonorably discharged from the military. His life collapsing around him, he eventually attempts suicide but is "saved" by Cobra who had had him under surveillance for some time. The get him to join a paramilitary front of theirs, which eventually leads him run the Manhattan station of Cobra where he comes into conflict with Duke and the Joes. He even gets recruited into Krake's ranks, though if his story went beyond that it was never revealed as far as I know because IDW rebooted and relaunched the Larry Hama universe thus ending some rather new, and interesting characters who haven't been seen since so far as I know. I saw a Marvel Nick Fury figure at a thrift store and sort of thought the torso would be of good use for the Mad Monk. I thought since most of the parts I was using were already black that this was going to be a relatively simple parts swamp, but the skirt I used wound up requiring a lot of the waist to be sanded down in order for it to sit properly. So, parts are the MU Fury torso and legs, some MU Starlord arms, the skirt from an Avengers Red Skull figure and a modified MU Deadpool belt. The head was from a Renegades Duke figure, but I sanded down the hair on the sides and repainted him so he wouldn't look exactly like his nemesis. Overall I'm pretty happy with him. He may've only appeared in a dozen or so books, but I think he had an interesting story arc that deserved a conclusion of some sort. And now you know... Thanks for looking! ![]() |
