Converting Swivel Wrists to Swivel-Hinges Custom Tutorial
How to transplant swivel-hinges to articulate simple swivel wrists
This custom tutorial was contributed by Henchmen4Hire
I had these LOTR Galadriel hands since forever, thinking someday I'd use them for those long fingernails, and I finally did. They attached with simple swivels so I decided to transplant the swivel hinge from another pair of hands.
Materials needed:
•Rotary tool
•Small cutting disc
•Small drill bit
•Knife
•Articulated donor hands
•Super Glue
•Small thin bit of rod
•First, cut the rod holding the hard disc-peg in the donor hand's wrist.

(I'm using Silk hands I think, they're just the right size for Galadriel's wrists.)
•Use the cutting disc to neatly create a rectangular slot at the wrist of the new hands. The slot has to be just deep and wide enough to wedge the disc-peg in there comfortably.

Use a low speed so you have more control and don't melt the hand.

If you're steady enough with the cutting disc, you can create a curved bottom for the slot, so the round disc-peg rests neatly in there.
•Test fit. Looks good!
•Find a little rod that fits snugly into the disc-peg. This will be the pin that holds the parts together.

You might be able to use a toothpick if the wrist is big enough.

If you find a rod that's slightly too big for the disc-peg, just widen the hole with a drill bit.

•Drill a hole through the wrist so it lines up with the disc-peg, and is snug enough to hold the rod.

Assemble and test fit. If the swivel is too loose, just dab a little super glue on the rod and let it harden, then test fit again.

When satisfied, snip the ends of the rod and use super glue or apoxie to cap the ends.
Boo-yah! Now the fig has swivel-hinge wrists.
If you're working with hands that are big enough, you could simply cut the donor hands above the swivel hinge, trim the back half of the new hands, then glue them together and sculpt as need to clean up the seam.

Anything will work as long as it fits snugly in the holes you drill
