Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) Reviews
House of M
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Box Sets
Rated 4.50 stars by VariablePenguin
When you see this figure in the box you think of nothing but pity for poor Ben Grimm. This figure looks less ever loving and more like an abused child. From what I've seen of the House of M comics though it seems to catch the likeness quiet well. The sculpt depicts the hulking It and his stoney hide meticulously. Articulation is very good. The only point it is missing in a torso joint that may have been sacrificed in order to keep him hunched over. What I was extremely impressed with was the fact that his fingers have 2 points of articulation. Each. That's right, they bend once at the palm (individually) and then again mid finger. This should be the standard for larger sized figures like this. It removed none of the detail from the figure and allows from some great finger...[See More]

So damn true, one look at it and you just want to look away really quickly because the patheticness of it makes you sick to your stomach. It''s like those poor little puppies at the pound that no one will ever get because they''re so ugly

Destroyer
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 15 - Modok Series
Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
At first glance, okay, it's just a big robot, big deal. But when you've got fearless Norse Gods cringing at the mere mention of the Destroyer's name, that's when you know you've got something good in your hands. I was going to scrap this figure to make a custom but now I don't want to damage it...strange... This Iron Mountain stands 7 inches tall, he looks like a big muscular guy in skin-tight armor. I caught a glimpse of the normal Thor-buster Iron Man and this figure seems to have the same basic body with a different head and it's cast in black plastic with silver streaks on him to give the illusion of gun-metal. The effect is decent but not totally convincing. It still looks like a black figure with hair-thin shiny streaks on it. There are some round metallic-blue protrusions on the...[See More]

If you really want one all you have to do is paint a ThorBuster black and sculpt the face-mask. I don''t know if it has the little hemisphere things but you could sculpt those too. There''s just no justifying the price

The chest plate is glued on because Thor Buster is the body but a different chest piece and head. I want a destryer though. I have Beta Ray Bill and an older Thor, now I need Destroyer. YA know in the commics Thor was in the destroyer armor for a while. Imagine Destryer with a red cape and wings on his hemet...oh and Moljorner of course. Could make an interesting custom or a neat variant fig. Are you listening Toy Biz...oh I mean Hasbro?
Abomination
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 13 - Onslaught Series
Rated 5.00 stars by modern_messiah
Okay, I was down at ASDA, which is basically owned by Walmart and I came across a bunch of ML figs. They had the onslaught series, and they were only £5.00, so I thought I might as well buy one. I was indecisive with choice, and so I picked up abomination as I needed villain for my 1st appearance grey Hulk. He looked large and worth my money, so I purchased him. Once I opened him I was amazed. The figure looks large and epic, and i love the size. He is finely detailed with goosebumps and boils and has a face like a cooked frog. The color is different to that of the packaged design but gives him a more evil look, like he just climbed out of your toilet or something. Articulation is hard to score as he clicks but yet he is amazing. His sheer weight gives it a nice 'toy' feel, as though...[See More]
Hulk
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Icons - Series 2
Rated 4.50 stars by TMB
RARRRRRRR....HULK SMASH PUNY PINK MEN!!!!!! The Incredible Hulk is one of my all time favorite character. I have to say this figure in no way disappoints me as a fan. He stands at 12" even, from head to toe. He is massive in stature as The Hulk should be. This Hulk reminds me of "The Rampaging Hulk" It was a series of larger black and white magazines put our in the 70's. In this mag he was Gigantic, and this figure is a great representation of that Hulk. Articulation : Where to start?...as I see it he has 27 POA this is hefty for a figure this size. The paint on this figure is perfect, I found not one flaw on the one I have. The detail right down to his frayed purple pants is great. Even is Fingernails and toenails are cracked and nasty looking. The only real drawback, and what kept me...[See More]
Iron Man vs Mandarin (Green)
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Face Off Sets - Series 2
Rated 3.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
Iron Man has to have the worst villains EVER. A guy with a bunch of rings that shoot stuff? Come on! Iron Man is a frikkin' tank that can fly! A little ring isn't going to do anything to him! If his enemies were the Green Lantern Corps, then you'd have a story! I can't give an exact estimate on Mandarin's size (because I scrapped him for parts before I reviewed him) but let's say around 6 inches to be safe. Overall, this is a sloppy figure. The paint is awful everywhere and he is prety much immobile because of the big rubber robe he wears. The robe is green with sloppily-painted yellow flames AND IT SMELLS BAD! As soon as I opened the package, like a punch on the nose came the awful stench of rancid plastic. It isn't removable either. The base body is a completely black Archangel body...[See More]

Iron Man vs Mandarin (Green)
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Face Off Sets - Series 2
Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire
There are hundreds of Iron Man suits, many of them outrageously designed, but I still like the simple suit he has for the Face-Off series. It's the only suit that looked like something a guy could actually wear without being laughed at. Tony stands 6 inches tall, which is in-scale with other ML figures, but maybe he should have been a little bit taller? 6.25 maybe? I mean, he is wearing a robotic suit after all! There just HAS to be some added height with that kind of gear on! The face-mask is removable but Tony's face don't look too hot. I recommend keeping it on, assuming you CAN keep it on because it doesn't fit neatly on his helmet, you've got to twist it around and wedge it in, and even then there are still some little gaps around the edges. The whole figure is cast in plain red...[See More]

I''ll trade you this one for the War machine variant. I found one at my wal mart and the Punisher with the Jigjagface variant.
So, deal, or no deal?
Professor X
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 9 - Galactus Series

Finally, a fully articulated Xavier! If you think it's wrong that even his legs are poseable then obviously you are not a customizer. Please leave this review now. :) Xavier stands 6 1/4 inches to the top of his perfectly-shaped head and wears the only suit he's ever worn for as long as the X-Men comics have been around. It's a dark greyish-blue and is molded in that color so you never have to worry about paint chipping anywhere. The only paint on it is the small area of the shirt that sticks-out and the black striped tie. The suit has creases, pockets, and painted buttons as detail. The part of the jacket on his torso is made of flexible material, kinda like a long vest. He has shiny black shoes for dancing...I mean, for sitting. :) The hands and head are painted with a smooth matte...[See More]
Kingpin (White Jacket) vs Daredevil (Masked)
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Face Off Sets - Series 1
Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire
A few Daredevil figures have been made since the Marvel Legends line came out, and this Face-Off version seems the best, but that's not saying much :( The Blind Devil stands about 6 1/4 inches tall, which is okay, but some people are inevitably going to complain "Why is he taller than everyone else!?". The head-sculpt is pretty good, Murdoc has a smirk on his face, but the little dimple on his chin is way off-center, the chin looks deformed! The part of his face that's showing is neatly painted flat-flesh but the border with the mask is a little sloppy. There are two small horns on his head but they are rounded off and look less-threatening. The main body is made of red plastic while the gloves and boots are made of darker-red plastic and the whole figure is shaded nicely. Why do I...[See More]

I got the maskless variant with the grimmacing Fatman (Kingpin) in the black jacket. If this were single carded I would have passed. The peanut shoulders are a big letdown. I figure we''ll get a decent masked DD in the not too distant future. Its sculpts like this DD that makes me wonder why fanboys were crying over the switch to Hasbro- which has done excellent work with Sigma 6 and Classic Transformers. Its not like we were going from Toybiz to Playmates. Anyway, this DD was more of a 2 or 2 1/2 star figure packed with a fairly decent (3 star) Kingpin figure and for me who didn''t have a DD figure it was an o.k. value. For those who already have a ML daredevil, you''re paying $18 for Kingpin. Gotta do what you gotta do, I ''spose.

Yep, I got this guy because I didn''t have a DD yet and I wanted Kingpin to make some comics. If DD were single-carded I would have passed too I hope they do make a less beef-jerkyish DD in the future. You''re right, I should have given him an even lower grade for not being able to be harvested for parts as easily

yeah, i think this DD''s costume is way to wrinkled, but still the best daredevil around. hasbro did announce a classic yellow costume DD, with a red variant in the nemisis series, but i don''t think they followed through with the production =(
Spider-Woman

i did not find much interest in this toy when i opened it and because her arms broke off from their joints when i tried bending them. she stand a little over 6 in. and comes with the head of modock. her head sculpt looks good( except the mask) enough for a movie phoenix custom. great toy but i would recomende it for display only. ...[See More]

I got a black Spiderwoman and she''s my least favorite ML15 figure. Instead of having a cute caboose it looks like she''s wearing a dipaer under her costume. Ah well. She''s fairly decent, despite some articulation goofiness and the others in the series are very decent so for $9 you can finish your crazy MODOK figure which is pretty good. Pretty good.
Psylocke
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 14 - Mojo Series
Rated 5.00 stars by rex
very nice toy beautiful head sculpt nice i like the way her hair was down and not in a pig tail. she stands 6' tall and wears her blue outfit and red belt! the only flaws in her are that she does not have hand or toe joints and would do perfect for the movie/marvel nemesis Elektra because she does not look to much Asian instead she looks like a mix of Angelina Jolie and Jennifer garner! great to add in any Marvel/ X-men collection!...[See More]
